Quesnel Savannah

Oswald Victor Gallion:

“Those horses belonged to Zephyr De Freitas, whose sons would take them to the savannah to graze daily.

There were two water receptacles, a concrete trough under a tree, we called laginet, located at very south western end and a large steel basin, not too far away.”

The area was bounded by Guanapo St, Quesnel St, Cocorite Rd and Maurice Ave.

The following is a copy of a document provided by Lloyd Brown that the area was the 1st race track.

Later during the 1960s there were also cows left to graze in the savannah.
